Festival Les évadées 2021, Historical city centre, Grasse (F)
Invited by the Théâtre de Grasse (TDG) the public gathers on the Place du 24 août where the wrapped tree echoes the multi-directional signpost of the 9 towns twinned with Grasse, which becomes a pretext for the repeated question “On va où?Where are we going? To Carrara? Opole? Ingolstadt? Murcia? Marblehead? Ariana? Vila Real? Legmoin? Pardess Hanna Karkur? With the fabrik gathered in a ball on the Cum Dederit song of , we go… Rue de la Délivrance, where the zig-zag of the stairs in a dive-belvedere welcomes the Pantone in a labyrinth. Then the procession along the rue de l’Evêché decorates the 5 arches of the fountain. A de-escalation dance on Woodkid with the grilled wings to go and taunt the Dolce Vita in the basin, drape the public and make its way to the Place de la Poissonnerie. Adorned with the orange mesh, the sail is hoisted along the 26 meters of the Saracen Tower aligned with the verticality of the staircase. Then we go… onto the full moon (24 July)? or on the head?
Mimos IN festival 2021, Périgueux (F)
To the reader, who translates the senses into substantive marrow
Random of the path, color of time / Dancing the ground, hoisting the sail
Diagonal troubadour, ochre singing the occitan
From the poets’ park to the reflecting bookcase.
Invited to invest the magnificent Gamenson Park, a former bishop’s garden with large cedars, plane and fir trees, the parcours is elaborated as a diagonal crossing of the natural landscape and the numerous steles and statues that honor the troubadours, Occitan poets and Felibre-Majorau up to the sanctuary of books in the Pierre Fanlac media library. The orange / OCre veil, a color associated for many years with the Mimos festival, and with the imaginary of the OCcitane culture, covers the basin like a primitive scarlet soup or an amniotic liquid from which a slow creature emerges. In a February 1, 1871 letter to Joseph Dalton Hooker, Darwin suggests that “the original spark of life may have begun in a small warm pool, where all sorts of basic products, ammonia and phosphoric salts, light, heat, electricity, etc., were present, and there a protein compound was chemically formed, ready to undergo still more complex changes.” Engraved on the stele of Jan Daniel (1861-1929), a painter and writer of the langue d’oc, is the quotation: Ai eiboucijat coumo ai pougut, d’autreis bladaran (I worked like a lost man and others are walking around!). After the energy of the fireball, the extension of the great cedar’s axis like a root, a battle lost in advance with the bronze head of Bertran de Born, topped with an orange mesh rib. The warrior troubadour crossed by Dante in the XVIII song of The Inferno, “held his head cut by the hair, / pendant in hand lantern-wise / which looked at us and said: Alas! / From oneself to oneself he made a torch / they were two in one, one in two”. Dance in contact with the generous round granite sculpture that every Perigordian has climbed at least once. Then sail’s rise at the back of the media library, open in two wings or book pages, reflecting on its large front glass. Finally dancing disappearance with the Anthology of the Occitan poetry with its orange cover…
Musics: Giacinto Scelsi, Quattro Pezzi su una nota sola per Orchestra: La/A/Orange – Vivaldi, Cum Dederit – Laboréal, 524 Hz – Woodkid, I Love You, version Quintet – Ma Muso (Muse), Marcel Fournier, poem read by Alexandre Chazeau, – Purcell, Come away, fellow sailors – Alberto Iglesias, Hable con ella. European Heritage Days – St Flour & Salers (Cantal, F)
During the European Heritage Days on September 19. & 20. 2020, the Cantal Department invites the performance Orange Street Pantone to take over the streets of St Flour and Salers. The Orange Pantone is chosen to highlight the volcanic black stones of these two cities of Haute-Auvergne. In St Flour, the project connects the sumptuous Alfred-Douët Museum of Art and History, and in particular the renaissance façade of the Consular House that houses it, with the Museum of Haute-Auvergne directed by France Harvoix (photos) in the former episcopal palace, via the great Place d’Armes and the square in front of St Pierre Cathedral.
Salers (photos: Daniel Aimé) was a city of knights, the costume made out of orange plastic used for building sites reminds an armor. The tour begins on the esplanade of the Old Cemetery (figure of a lying down and the original snake) then goes around the St Mathieu church to enhance its neo-Roman porch, venturing in front of the Chapelry in the corners of the streets of the Castle and Notre-Dame, climbs the passage of the Coustil and crosses the Belfry Gate through its summit, to finish in front of the Bailiwick House and the fountain on the Tyssandier d’Escous square, renovator of the Salers cattle breed.
In both cases, the figure of a Minotaur wearing a bun of Salers cow horns questions the animal presence and the labyrinth in the urban space, and honors their lyre-shaped twists. The presence of public fountains is an opportunity for a collective hand washing with orange soap (cinnamon) revealing the multiple manual choreographies that the last months of sanitary measures have particularly valued!
Playlist: 524 Hz, Laboréal – Cum dederit, Nisi Dominus, Vivaldi – Afterlife, Arcade Fire – Spiegel im Spiegel, Arvo Pärt – Hable con ella, Alberto Iglesias – Al Jardín de la Alegría, Son De La Frontera – Ready to Start, Arcade Fire.
